At Cogent, we are excited to introduce a whole new paradigm to exercise and fitness led by a Physiotherapist certification in Performance Enhancement that reaches beyond the fads and gimmicks on social media or one-size-fits-all programs. Conditioning is focused building strength, improving endurance, enhancing flexibility, developing agility, developing coordination and boosting your overall cardiovascular fitness. Performance centers around exercise recovery, sports-specific conditioning, skill refinement and boosting your confidence for return to sports or work.
The overall goal of our Conditioning and Performance program is to help you achieve optimum health and improved quality of life and live your best life with new energy. No matter your area of interest, our exercise expert will curate a program that meets your needs from coping with a chronic injury, training for a race, returning to recreational sports, or tuning up during the off season. You will learn to move with confidence and maximize your exercise time.

We provide services tailored for each stage of life, from amateur or professional athletes to individuals presenting with age or disease-related barriers and limitations. Skill-Related Physical Fitness Testing and Interpretation
Components of skill-related fitness are closely are both closely associated to disease prevention and health promotion and includes:

Measurement of speed

Clinical Exercise Testing and Interpretation
During a clinical exercise test, you will be monitored while performing incremental (most common) or constant work rate exercise. The purpose is to observe physiological responses to increasing or sustained metabolic demand. We use a submaximal exercise test that typically continues until you reach symptom-limited maximal level of exertion (fatigue).
The testing mode and protocol includes:

Low-intensity warm-up.
-
Progressive continuous exercise in which the demand is increased to an individual's maximal level for a duration of 8 to 12 minutes. We use an individualized protocols based on timed movement to a metronome on a device (treadmill, arm ergometer, dual-action climbers, or stepper), based on your age, exercise tolerance, and symptoms.

Cool-down period.

Interpretation of clinical exercise test using heart rate response, blood pressure response, rare-pressure product, and symptoms.

Determination of exercise capacity.

What is included in the Conditioning and Performance Training Program?
​Our Conditioning and Performance Program is based on the Optimum Performance Training Model (OPT), an evidence-based, highly adaptable and versatile program that progresses individuals through five distinct yet complementary training phases. OPT has been used for over 2 decades with the world's top athletes and we are glad to be partners with the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) in offering a 4 stage iteration of the program that includes 10- to 12-week training packages based on frequency of attendance and program goals.

Programs 1 and 2 are suitable for all individuals irrespective of skill and fitness levels.

Programs 3 and 4 are suitable for recreational and pro athletes with interest in specialized programs such as Running Fitness or Golf Fitness and Conditioning.
